Jesus, by Desmond Thompson

One of the most controversial topics in the world is the message of Jesus Christ. People have created a Jesus who does not even exist in the Bible, a Jesus who gives all hugs and kisses without ever correcting anyone. Others have created a Jesus who is nothing more than a human being with a good message.

However, Jesus is so much more than these empty ideologies placed on Him by humans. Jesus is God and, not only is He God, He is also the Savior of His people. Jesus’s people are those who believe in Him as their Lord and Savior. If you strip one of these two titles from Him, you are not really serving Him but a made-up idol in your own mind. Consider a wife who begins to strip away pieces of her husband’s identity simply because she wants to make him into what she wants him to be in order to tolerate him. This would be a clear sign of lack of love and manipulation.

We must stand on the side of Christ and become His people. This means we must preach what He preached and live what He lived to the glory of God the Father. Christ is the only way to be delivered from the power of sin and ultimately the eternal punishment of Hell. Righteousness only comes from Jesus Christ. Now, let us fall before the majesty of our great God!

  1. This is a thought-provoking reflection, Desmond.

The challenge is to cede the righteousness to Jesus instead of becoming self-righteous ourselves. Finding that balance can be a life-long struggle.
